New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited bids for the sponsorship of Indian kit and official merchandising partner rights through a tender process.
The move comes ahead of Nike's four years contract coming to an end in September 2020. Nike's sponsorship had a long-standing affair with Indian cricket. They have designed and supplied the cricket kits for Indian men, women, and the U-19 teams as well. Nike has been associated with the BCCI since 2006.
The BCCI officials said the winning bidder will have the right to sponsor the national cricket team's kit and will have access to the official merchandising rights.
"The terms and conditions governing the submission and evaluation of bids including eligibility requirements and performance obligations are contained in the ITT which will be available From August 3, 2020, on receipt of payment of the Tender Fee of Rs. 1,00,000 (Rupees One Lac Only). The ITT will remain for purchase till August 26, 2020," the BCCI said in a statement.
The BCCI also confirmed that Nike's 14-year association will come to an end after the deals end in September.
