New Delhi: A big fraud has been exposed in the JEE examination.
The Assam Police has arrested JEE topper Neel Nakshatra Das, his father Jyotirmaya Das and another man who had emerged as the topper in Assam.
It is alleged that JEE topper Neel Nakshatra Das achieved 99.8% in the JEE Mains examination without even taking the exam. Neil Nakshatra Das used a proxy in the JEE examination which was held on September 5.
Hamendra Nath Sarma, Pranjal Kalita and Hiralal Pathak - all employees of the examination center in Guwahati - have also been arrested due to their alleged involvement in the case. After presenting the accused in court on Thursday, they were sent on five days of police remand.
Mitradev Sharma, a resident of Mathuranagar in Guwahati, had recently filed a complaint against the JEE Men's Topper at the Azra police station. The police complaint said that the father of JEE Men's Topper had spent a lot of money to use the proxy.
The fraud was executed in this manner
The student and his father carried out this fraud to get admission in the top IITs. The student's father is a doctor at a renowned hospital in Guwahati.
The student reportedly entered the examination hall after doing the biometric entry, then after a while came out with the help of the invigilator. After this, another person gave the examination in his place.
Mitradev Sharma alleged that the father had also given 20 lakh rupees to a coaching center.
According to CPRO Rajib Saikia of Assam Police, five people were arrested in connection in this case on Wednesday.
Guwahati Police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta said that the candidate had used a proxy for the examination with the help of a middle agency. He said that our investigation is on. Employees of the Testing Center in Guwahati can also join.
A search operation is being conducted to nab all those involved in this crime.
